Tourist accommodation

A new regulatory framework with regard to Brussels tourist accommodations will enter into force in the first semester of 2016. The regulations concern the accommodations that are situated in the Brussels Capital Region and that are provided for tourists on a paid basis. The owners must register their accommodation(s) with Brussels Economy and Employment.

The ordinance dated 8 May 2014 creates six tourist accommodation categories:
  • hotels
  • hotel apartments
  • tourist homes
  • accommodation with locals, such as bed and breakfasts,
  • youth hostels and
  • camping sites.
The implementation decree is being drawn up. It provides various transitory measures for existing tourist accommodation establishments.
